They're what I would consider to be a "next step in the road" on the way to teaching not-so-savvy webmasters what to do (and what not to do)! I have two questions, though: 1) What are the odds of merging these FAQs with the Google Webmaster Guidelines into one document that's accessible from both spots? There are some things (e.g. 301 redirects) that could be put into the Guidelines so that people could more easily follow them. 2) Do you guys plan on adding to either section, or both sections, with specific examples based on common Google Webmaster Help Forums questions (or questions on this blog, Matt's, Lasnik's, official G blogs, etc.), or is this what it is? Cool stuff at any rate, Brian. I like these. They’re what I would consider to be a “next step in the road” on the way to teaching not-so-savvy webmasters what to do (and what not to do)!

The true affects are hard to measure since if the FAQ is serving its function less people will come in and ask the same question that was asked 10 minutes ago, and I don't think anyone is developing any metrics on that. But at least when they do, we have an official source to point them to. We've tried an un-official Webmasters Help FAQ, but it got little support from the community. I'm hoping its developed into a living document, small enough information doesn't get lost (unlike the un-navigatable Official Webmasters Blog) but kept up to date with the latest concerns. The less times we have to answer, "Why doesn't link: show all my links?" the more real help can be administered. It’s been a great resource so far. So much time is wasted in the forums/groups answering the same questions over and over again. A central repository was much needed. This is a great step forward Brian.
